Update for June 9 2011

Hi Everybody,

Well, Ed's been busy making soap the past couple of days.  The last two shows we have done depleted our inventory so he's been a busy man and lovin' it.

Last week we went to Bartlesville's Sunfest and had a great time meeting new people and the location of our tent couldn't have been better.  It was like camping without really camping (that's my kind of camping).

Just to update everybody we are now a MIO - Made in Oklahoma product and you can find us listed on their website now.  Another exciting tidbit is that our soap products are being sold at Mama Trizza's on 14th and Delaware in Tulsa.  If you haven't visited the store you need to check it out.  They have a lot of pottery, art and other unique gifts, its a really neat gift shop - and Father's Day is going to be here in less than two weeks.

I hope everyone is having a great start to your summer.  I got to get Ed out there to make some some more soap.

Introduction Blog

Hi,

My name is Ed, I have a lot of different interests and one of my biggest interests has been creating homemade soap.

You might ask yourself, why homemade soap?  One of the most interesting things I have found is how much better it is than store bought and how much healthier it is for you.  Most of the bars and liquid soaps that we purchase from the store is loaded with detergents and petroleum based products.  These chemicals are absorbed into the skin and can clog your pores and/or dry out the natural moisture that is there.  Much of the actual soap that that is sold in stores that are not deodorant bars or beauty bars, are made from tallow or tallowate, which is animal fat.  Although I am not completely against animal fat, but from what I have read and understand is that animal fat has a larger molecular make up that vegetable oils and cause clogged pores.  Some beauty bars that claim to moisturize your skin, are re-batched soap with the natural glycerin removed to make in other products like hand lotion.  Soap with out the natural glycerin will leave a film on the skin, causing your skin to secret oil that ultimately dries out your skin.

Natural homemade soap will not dry your skin, if quality oils are used can moisturize your skin and allow your skin to naturally absorb nutrients and vitamins that are needed for healthy looking skin.  Since I started making my own and sharing it with my family and friends, there is nothing else we would choose to use.

As I started making my soap for other people, I wanted to also share some my cherokee heritage and culture.  So I designed 7 different soaps to represent the 7 Sacred Directions, each soap has different qualities to help treat different types of skin or skin conditions.

Though these blogs, I hope to share my knowledge of soap and share my thoughts about my cherokee heritage as well.
